David Gandy Launches WELLWEAR

David Gandy Wellwear loungewear basics

DAVID GANDY WELLWEAR is a 'world first concept bringing apparel and wellbeing together in a lifestyle brand that fuses fashion, function and feeling'. Inspired by the supermodel’s 20 years' of industry experience and based on the scientific benefits of wearing soft, comfortable clothing, the 20-piece debut collection offers a definitive range of essentials that puts the emotional wellbeing of its customer at its very heart.

“Clothing can have a big impact on our confidence, so I wanted to create a range that helps people feel relaxed and secure – one that allows people to feel as comfortable as they do in their own skin” says Gandy.

Fabric constructions have been selected for their natural functionality, such as body temperature regulation and moisture wicking, to create an additional layer of comfort. Wellwear also pushes the boundaries on affordable fabric innovation by applying technical treatments to garments to physically enhance the wearer’s wellbeing. These include anti-odour and anti-bacterial properties which reduce the need to wash clothes after every wear, increasing longevity of the garment and in turn having a positive wider environmental impact, and the use of Aloe Vera plant extract which has wound healing, anti-inflammatory and moisturising properties.

TheChicGeek says, "It's quite hard to get excited about basics, but I like Gandy's attempt at a spin on them. The product descriptions are a bit of a stretch for a cotton loopback hoodie - 'The release of oxytocin (feel-good hormones) when you hug someone has a powerful calming effect signalling relaxation and safety. We’ve read that soft clothing does the same, so we made the Ultimate Hoodie as soft as possible. Here’s a hug from us to boost your mood.'

David Gandy Wellwear loungewear basicsComfortable clothing makes people feel relaxed. Who knew?! The proof of the basics is in the wearing... Hoodies are £75, T-Shirts are £30. Made in Portugal.

I didn't realise Gandy no longer did his ranges for Marks & Spencer -the English model’s underwear range for Autograph, launched in September 2014, and swimwear collection was released during summer 2015 - so this is clearly his own extension of that.

Could probably do with more colour, but I guess that'll be about growing out the SKUs. Sportswear and beauty/supplements will be a natural brand progression here."

AW21 Barbour x Noah Jackets

Barbour noah bedale jacketThe third iteration of this collaboration, Barbour has launched its Autumn Winter 21 collection with New York label, Noah. This season the range includes six different jackets that are based on the traditional Barbour Bedale and Beaufort styles - both of which were first introduced in the early 1980s. These classic designs have been reimagined in new vibrant fabrications to create a collection that is both timeless and modern.

Left - Barbour - Aero Noah Bedale - £299

The jackets have been crafted from two distinct fabrics, both made in the UK – a dry wax and a heavy wool. The Bedale jackets are made in a dry wax and is available in the colourways of wine, nicotine and dark navy - with a contrasting tartan lining.

By contrast the Beaufort designs are made in a heavy wool from Abraham Moon & Sons, a British company established in 1837. Although the shape and cut of the Beaufort design has been retained, the heavy fabric gives the jackets a weighty, robust feel. Available in tan, brown plaid and a pink tone, each design features a contrasting tartan lining.

The jackets are completed with Barbour’s signature heavy-weight two-way zips, corduroy collars, upper hand warmer pockets and lower bellows pockets. On the exterior. there is a small and subtle Barbour X Noah embroidered logo on the pocket flap - and on the interior you’ll find an oversized embroidered Barbour X Noah logo at the neck.

Ian Bergin, Director of Menswear, Footwear & Accessories, Barbour said: ‘We really enjoyed working alongside the team at NOAH to bring our unique collaborative designs for Autumn Winter to life. There is a natural symbiosis between our two brands that comes from the desire to create timeless products with a contemporary twist and I hope that people will enjoy wearing them for many years to come.”

Brendon Babenzien, Noah Co-Founder and Creative Director said: "Barbour jackets are perfect for what they are designed for, therefore we chose to make only subtle updates this season. We focused on cloth selection for those who may not manage to wear wax comfortably — water resistant dry cloths for those looking to shed rain and wools to combat chilly temperatures. These felt like simple but elegant variations to an already legendary outerwear piece.”

TheChicGeek says, "The Barbour jacket is the Range Rover of the coat world and as such is one of the UK's greatest clothing exports. Who wouldn't want a pink one?!"

The Autumn Winter 21 Barbour x Noah collection is available on barbour.com and noahny.com and from selected stockists worldwide

Moncler Launches First Men's Fragrance

Moncler Pour Homme fragrance men'sMoncler has unveiled its first-ever fragrances, Moncler Pour Homme and Moncler Pour Femme. The new fragrances are the latest in a long line of inspirational creations by the brand and a natural extension of a 360° lifestyle brand celebrated around the world for its heritage of mountain excellence.

Left - Moncler Pour Homme - 150ml - £170 exclusive to Selfridges

The fragrance duo shares a unique 'Mountain Woods' accord exclusive to Moncler. This warm, sophisticated woody element is a common DNA that evokes the pioneering spirit of the brand. Beyond this accord, each fragrance unveils an intrinsic blend of prestigious natural materials and unique accords formulated in the hands of perfumers Nisrine Grillié, Quentin Bisch, Antoine Maisondieu and Christophe Raynaud at Givaudan.

“The Mountain Woods accord is the common thread between the women’s and men’s fragrance. For its woody, outdoors feeling, we used cedarwood. For the stylish sophistication of the house, we worked with a saturation of amber. Together with Antoine Maisondieu, we added sandalwood for its comforting, creamy warmth.” says Nisrine Grillié.

Moncler Pour Homme is a woody aromatic fragrance created by perfumers Antoine Maisondieu and Christophe Raynaud. Said to capture the vibrant natural beauty of an alpine forest, the fragrance contains an unprecedented saturation of woody notes. Starting with the exclusive Alpine Green accord for Moncler that, combined with the energising freshness of clary sage, lifts the fragrance through a leafy expanse of mountain pines.

“Moncler Pour Homme is a deep-dive of woody notes – much more than any classic men’s fragrance. The Mountain Woods accord present in both fragrances is accentuated a lot more in Moncler Pour Homme. For Christophe Raynaud and I, the idea was to play that against the fresh, green element of the Alpine Green accord with aromatic touches of pine resin, sage and cypress. To that effect, Monler Pour Homme is very modern in the way that it has a long dry down – it doesn’t really follow the formal construction of a traditional perfume.” says Antoine Maisondieu.

The fragrance is showcased in a unique ‘borraccia’ flask-shaped bottle encircled with a ribbed silver case and cap – a utilitarian echo to Moncler’s mountaineering origins and the iconic quilted construction of a Moncler jacket. The Moncler Pour Homme bottle features a silver-dipped effect and an LED screen adorns the bottle of the rechargeable 150ml edition with an illuminated message panel customisable via a Bluetooth-powered smartphone app. This playful innovation allows you to write a personal note that appears in scrolling red letters across the bottle’s mirrored façade when activated by the Moncler logo-shaped push button in contrasting black.

TheChicGeek says, "The first Moncler fragrance was always going to be a fresh wood, naturally, conjuring up those snow covered pined peaks and crisp mountain air. The brand has grown to become one of the biggest and more desirable of the designer down coat brands, particularly its multitude of small designer collections under its Genius header. The LED bottle idea sounds fantastically fun, love the personalisation element, and also relates to Moncler's technical expertise."
