Minus the fishing rod, and pond, the fashion gnomes were out in force at the recent Jan 2023 Pitti Uomo. Florence was a buzz with folkloric fortezza folk who seem to have fixated on the beanie with a slightly pointier top.
Gnomecore has become a major trend and it's easy to see why. All you really need is a baggie beanie. The men's industry, including, buyers and brand managers, like a trend that's easy and you can make your own. With Italian temperatures plummeting, it's also practical. There's no trend like gnome!

When Elon Musk walked into Twitter HQ, after buying the company, he was carrying a sink. It was reportedly a pun on 'Let that sink in', but it could quite easily be taken that Twitter cost him everything but the kitchen sink and here it is!
It seems that sinks are in, or more specifically drainers. JW Anderson, creative director of Loewe, has decorated one half of an overcoat with stainless steel drain holes for the SS23 season. Next, should we be expecting a Fairy Liquid matching bag, or should we leave that to Anya Hindmarch?
Perfectly ventilated or money down the drain?!

TheChicGeek says, “I know it’s cool to wear somebody else’s clothes today, but how about somebody you’ve just ate?! Timothée Chalamet plays a blood thirsty cannibal in Luca Guadagnino’s new film, Bones and All, and his wardrobe seems to consist of whatever is left over from his pickings.

This fringed cowboy shirt was a standout, and, while I can't find a floral fringed version, it got me thinking about the Liberty style floral cowboy shirts Tom Ford did for Gucci back in the day.
While not exactly a snip, it could be seen as an investment, and leave you looking good enough to eat! Sorry.

Destinations all over the world, Aire Ancient Baths London, opened in 2021, features numerous pools, such as Caldarium (Hot Bath /40ºC), Frigidarium (Cold Bath / 14ºC and Ice Bath 10ºC), Tepidarium (Warm Bath / 36ºC), Balneum (Bath of Thousand Jets), Vaporium (Steam Bath) and Flotation (Salt-water pool with salt the density of the Dead Sea), plus optional treatments in a listed Georgian townhouse.
TheChicGeek says, “The most welcome of London icebergs, Aire Ancient Baths, under an unassuming Georgian townhouse, is a cavernous wonderland of water and heat. The former home of Peter Pan’s JM Barrie, has, just two levels below the ground, a listed brick cellar that was almost made for these ‘ancient’ baths.
Close to where Father Thames once lapped the end of the street, this quiet road, just around the corner from Embankment Tube, feels almost dream like as you descend the stairs into this subterranean feast of tranquility. The website doesn’t do it justice.
A member of staff passes you along the journey, through the changing rooms - you have to wearing a swimsuit & water socks - to a quick tour of the dimly lit bathes, and then collect you for you treatment upstairs. I don’t envy them the job of recognising people they don’t know in the dimly lit pools. This was the only sticking point. It was quite a long wait for a member of staff to welcome me and I was conscious of my treatment with no watch or clock for any idea of time.
What awaits is a perfectly lit, like a Hollywood film, group of pools, which offer plenty of options to make the visit feel special and premium. The candles and music make it an instant switch off from the world upstairs. I was thinking it was like Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, the way it went from 18th century townhouse to ancient candle-lit baths underneath.
The steam room was perfectly super-hot and the salt water pool was like being back in the womb! Each pool’s name was lit from behind by candles. Somebody must spend hours everyday lighting these, but it’s so worth it.
Couldn’t fault the design, and, also, it was busy enough to have atmosphere, but not busy enough to be annoying and not find your own spaces.
The treatments take place in the upper floors of the townhouse, and there is a lift to take you directly from the spa there. I had a 30 minute body massage which was perfectly fine.
I’d totally recommend this place as a treat for yourself or somebody else and if I see another one on my travels I’d happily check it out.”
Entry starts at £98pp to have free run of the baths for 90 minutes. I had a 30mins massage and experience at £170

I'm off to see the new fashion museum in Antwerp in January and it's got me feeling for tapestries. Dark flemish style tapestries remind me of the Dries Van Noten collection he did around 2017, and they somehow has this rarefied and fusty country house feeling that looks perfect layered under a nice winter coat or jacket.
This is listed as a women's, so go for a bigger size, but it's not like to has to fit in the shoulders or arms.

Not until HS2 arrives into Manchester will anybody truly understand what the Northern Powerhouse actually means. Manchester is doing pretty well without it. A hub of fashion, media and urban regeneration is making Manchester one of the most exciting cities in Europe to live and visit. Manchester was recently named one of the best places to visit in the UK in 2023 by Time Out.
The city's most famous artist, Lowry, has his own museum in Manchester and his stick people have become known the world over. Looking mint, they are now appearing on this shirt by Blake Mill. Ironically, there is no dark and brooding mill behind them.
Pretend you got it in the gift shop.
