Hoping to offering some clarity through the walls and walls of haircare products available out there, The Hair Consult was founded by Stephen Rowe, Photographer Cara Johnson and hairdresser and colourist Edward James. They say, the sheer volume of hair products available on the market mean that many people struggle to understand the best haircare regime for their lifestyle and hair needs. The Hair Consult offers a paid-for ‘Consult Concierge’ service with one of their in-house haircare experts and then sends a bespoke prescription recommending products featured on The Hair Consult website.
TheChicGeek says “I told them my hair was short and is thin and balding - nothing a trip to Istanbul wouldn’t sort out! - and conditioner makes my hair greasy.
This was The Hair Consult response:
Based on your hair being short, fine in texture and prone to being oily (especially if you use conditioner), we recommend using Aveda Scalp Solutions Shampoo, which gently cleanses and improves scalp health and hydration without leaving it oily, especially as you do not use a conditioner. For styling and added texture we recommend Shu Uemura's Nendo Definer Matte Clay, which provides hold without stickiness. The matt texture makes hair look fuller and is also idea for hair that is prone to oiliness.
My box of products arrived with the above products plus a small sample of Aveda face wash, Aveda hair thickening tonic and a small Shu Uemura candle.
This is a good concept. It’s not even about saving the money on products you won’t use or like - there is that too - it’s the time and frustration wasted trying to find something that works for. Anything that contains Aveda - they are the best shampoos IMO - starts on the right foot. These are quality products. Other brands on The Hair Consult website include Philip Kingsley, Oway and Kérastase. You do notice the difference even on the little I have left!"
